Comments on Reception, Registration, and Departure:

Sunday:

Reception:
6-8 PM Sunday, Richey Ballroom, 3rd Floor of IMU (the same building as the Iowa House).
The reception will include soft drinks, coffee and tea, and a buffet of hors d'oeuvre. The food is less than a full dinner, but it can substitute for a light dinner, if you wish. There will be a cash bar, with beer and wine at a cost of approximately $3 - $4. There will be seating.

Registration:
6-7 PM Sunday, Richey Ballroom, 3rd Floor of IMU (the same building as the Iowa House)
7:30 - 8:30 AM Monday, Terrace Room (where the oral talks will be)

Wednesday:

Departure:
The workshop oral and poster sessions will be finished at 11:00 am Wednesday. This is early enough for participants to catch flights departing 12:50 pm and later. The time we last checked (April 2001), there are flights on most airlines departing in the window 12:50 pm to 1:50 pm.

Comments on Poster Talks:

We're doing several things to make posters especially appealing:
  • Posters will be displayed all day Monday and all day Tuesday.
  • The scheduled time for a poster session is 2 h 40 m, for viewing 18 posters.
  • In addition to the scheduled time, there will several hours of informal opportunities to view posters and discuss them. That's because the posters will be displayed in the same large room as the coffee breaks and lunches Monday and Tuesday.
  • Posters are big: board size is 72 X 48 inches (182 X 122 cm).

Comments on Oral Talks:

  • Oral talks are 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion.
  • In addition to an overhead projector, there will be a video projector for electronic presentations; you will need to bring your own laptop computer. A VCR will also be available to play tapes in NTSC-VHS format only.
  • There are unnumbered poster boards available for up to 18 oral speakers who wish to display something informally in the poster session:
    • Oral speakers may use up to 36 X 48 inches (91 cm X 122 cm), i.e., one-half of one poster-board display.
    • For example, speakers may wish to display copies of their transparencies, to promote additional discussion.
    • The spaces are on the reverse sides of posters 1-7 and the reverse sides of posters 38-39
    • They are available on a first-come first-served basis (this is informal: you can't reserve space ahead of time, and you don't need to ask anyone's permission; just show up and and use some of this poster space if you like).
